Short Description:

This Sponge Compression Set (Permanent Deformation) Testing Machine is designed in strict accordance with ISO 1856, Method A to quantitatively evaluate the permanent deformation of foam and sponge materials. The machine precisely compresses the specimen to a specified percentage (e.g., 50%) of its original thickness, maintains it in a 70°C oven for a defined period (typically 22 hours), then allows a controlled recovery before measuring the final thickness. The resulting percentage loss in thickness—the compression set—provides a key metric for assessing the material’s long-term dimensional stability and elastic recovery under sustained load and elevated temperature.
