Short Description:

This Sponge Compression Set (Permanent Deformation) Testing Machine is designed and manufactured in accordance with ISO 1856, Method A, for determining the compression set of flexible cellular polymeric materials. It compresses a specimen to a specified percentage (typically 50%) of its original thickness, subjects it to a controlled temperature (e.g., 70°C) for a defined period (e.g., 22 hours), and then measures the final thickness after a standard recovery time. The residual deformation, expressed as a percentage of the original thickness, quantifies the material’s loss of resilience and dimensional stability under prolonged compressive load, providing essential data for assessing long-term performance in seating, cushioning, and sealing applications.
